The Physiotherapy Board of Australia requires international applicants to demonstrate English proficiency through accepted tests. For registration, you generally need a minimum score of 7 in IELTS Academic with at least 7 in listening, reading, and speaking, and 6.5 in writing. Other accepted tests are PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, and Cambridge English tests, each with specific minimum scores.

You don't need to be in Australia for most assessments, but the Clinical Assessment (part of the Standard Pathway) usually requires you to be in the country.

The duration of this journey can vary depending on various factors like immigration, assessment pathway, registration, moving countries etc. If you are actively trying to move to Australia, it can take anywhere from a few months to over a year

If you hold an Interim Certificate from the Council, you can apply for Limited Registration with AHPRA to work under the supervision of a fully registered physiotherapist and gain Australian clinical experience.
